New Elm St. Park Dedication

The Village Mayor, Village Council, Village personnel, and a few residents gathered at the new Elm St. Park located at 8103/8109 Elm St. on Saturday April 29th at 10am to dedicate the new park.  Hot dogs, chips and water was served.  Mayor Mary Boring made a short dedication speech, which is listed below.

“Ernie Harter was a lifelong  resident of Thurston.  He played basketball for Thurston High School and graduated from Thurston High School in 1938.  He was a firefighter for the Village of Thurston and was a member on the Thurston Village Council for many years.  He became mayor for Thurston on August 4th, 1988.  He was a valuable and key player in establishing the municipal water system from the Village of Baltimore to the Village of Thurston.  He owned and operated a car dealership for many years in the Village of Thurston.  He attended most council meetings after I became Mayor.  He was always there to lend a helping hand and  keep up to date on everything and gave knowledge to every new council ember that came on board.  I did a proclamation for Ernie on March  1st, 2010.  It was well deserved and every March 1st is Ernie Harter Day in the Village of Thurston and I am proud to dedicate this park to Ernie Harter.”

Mosquito Spraying is set for the following Wednesday evenings this summer:
June 14th
July 12th
August 9th
