Thurston Board of Public Affairs

Meeting Minutes

May 11, 2004

Lowell called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

Roll call:  Lowell Hite – Present; Bev Reese – Present; Laura Clark – Present; Aaron Reedy, Clerk – Present

Bev made a motion to approve the April 2004 meeting minutes.  Laura second. All yea.

Bev made a motion to approve the April 2004 Financial statement.  Laura second. All yea.

Lowell said the Faulkner property on Main St. has sold – we want to make sure we get the money that is past due.

Bev asked about Max Miller’s property – Jerry Willard is renting it, and moving in, but water is not turned on.  Lowell explained it’s because Max still owes $51.07 for past due.  Once he pays it, then we can turn it back on.

Board discussed the bill from the Walnut Creek Sewer District (WCSD) for computer equipment and software.  It was purchased back in 2002, but we are just being charged for our 1/3 of the cost.  On the bill was a charge for $126.84 for bills.  Lowell said we shouldn’t pay for these since we pay for what we use each month.  There’s also an annual support charge of $495 that we’ll have to help pay.  The Board agreed to pay the bill, minus the $126.84.  However, Council will have to make appropriation changes to allow for the payment.

Board discussed bill from Claypool Electric.  It was for going to the booster station and checking a relay.  They were called by the WCSD, without first consulting the Village of Thurston.  Board agreed to pay the bill, but wishes to express their dislike of the way the situation was handled.  Per contract, this should have been reviewed with Thurston before someone was called out, and ANY charges incurred.

Lowell said Pleasantville bought a new metal detector, and it might be a good idea to buy their old one.  Board agreed Lowell could get a price on it.

Lowell directed Aaron to inform WCSD to do a final reading on the Rohozen property.  They have moved out, and the house is being torn down.

Bev made a motion to pay bills and adjourn.   Laura second.  All yea.

Respectfully Submitted,

Aaron L. Reedy, Clerk
