Meeting was called to order at 6:42 pm.
Roll call: Brenda Mathias – Present; Lowell Hite – Present; Rose Robertson – Present; Aaron Reedy, Clerk – Present
Cindy Meadows was present at the meeting. She is interested in the vacant seat that will be available when Brenda moves from the Village.
Brenda made a motion to approve the May 2001 meeting minutes. Rose second. All Yea.
Rose made a motion to approve the May 2001 Financial statement. Brenda second. All yea.
The board reviewed the letter received from the Consumer Credit Counseling Company offering $10.00 a month payment for Sherrie Jackson’s past-due account. However, we would have to pay them 15% of the total amount due. Lowell and Aaron sent a letter on June 1 stating that we are a government entity, and a public utility, that made no provision for such deals. Today, a message was left on the answering machine by the CCCC offering to pay $10.00 a month without us having to pay the 15% fee. The board discussed the issue. Even with the water turned off, there is a $12.00 minimum charge for water/sewer service. The account would continue to go into arrears even deeper unless more was paid. Aaron will call the CCCC and explain the situation and see what they say.
Lowell announced that the Village Council approved the bulk water rate increase to $5.00 per 1000 gallons.
Lowell announced that they started painting the water tower on 6/6/2001, and that it should be finished by 6/13/2001. The water pressure has been low, but it’s coming back up.
Lowell said that Friday evening someone reported a leak on Fourth Street. He had a backhoe come in on Monday morning and they fixed the leak.
Brenda announced that Bob Black called about his mother’s house. She hasn’t been living there for a while and the bill has been about $25.00 a month. He wants to know if we can shut it off. Lowell said he should send a note with his payment. If she comes home, we won’t charge a reactivation fee.
Brenda announced that she not sure when she’ll be moving. She’ll probably be here through July. Cindy Meadows is interested in her position.
As there was no more business to discuss, Brenda made a motion to pay bills and adjourn. Rose second. All yea. The time is 7:03 p.m.
Aaron L. Reedy, Clerk
